Content Creator as #CreatorsforChange

Have you ever felt ‘fenced’ to explore yourself, merely because of society’s perspective of what’s acceptable? For example, you can’t be a weight lifter because of what you wear or you can’t explore yourself because people think what you’re doing is too weird. These situations can be found in any corner of the world and that’s why YouTube initiated a program called #CreatorsforChange. The programs’ objective is to raise awareness of social issues in the creators’ community through their YouTube channel. Two of them have caught my eye; you may find their YouTube channel under the name of Dina Tokio and Gita Savitri. They wanted to shed the light to those who are courageous enough to be the fish out of water. Dina Torkia is a half-English and half-Egyptian Muslim fashion blogger who is appointed as one of the ambassadors for this global initiative. Her series titled #YourAverageMuslim intends to inspire people, especially young Muslim girls that they can pursue anything they want to

Jakarta Goes Cashless

Anda pasti pernah dengar GNNT, bukan?

A Bowl of Noodle Soup for the Soul

My first month in Taipei, and I'm loving it! Exploring sound, taste and smell of everything around. One thing that really got to me was, the hospitality of the locals. During the first three days here, my current roommate, Felicia and I haven't got a room to stay. We were staying at a hotel downtown and would require us around forty minutes to get to NCCU by bus.  One night, when we were surveying rooms closer to campus, a middle aged man who introduced us to some landlords fixed us to a bowl of beef noodle soup.           牛肉麵  n iúròu miàn Coming from Indonesia where our food is cooked with all kinds of herbs and spices, it's fair to say that the food aren't suitable for my tastebuds as most of it are flavourless. But this baby over here.. Felicia and I both devoured it at once. It's pretty hard to find halal beef noodles, but a friend of ours took us to a place in near Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall, 清真中國牛肉麵食館 Halal Chinese Beef Noodle Shop. Top notch!

Busy, busy, busy. That's how I try to keep myself sane, without spreading myself too thin. Counter intuitive? Very. I mean, honestly speaking this is a time when the days and nights doesn't go by so seamlessly (despite all the support I got from friends and family, thank you.)  After Istanbul, it was time to get my head on and back in the game. I had to finish what I've started and get that degree. My undergraduate thesis was an analyzation of a film called The Flowers of War by the legendary Zhang Yimou, which was based on Geling Yan's novel,  金陵十三釵, literally meaning thirteen flowers of Jinling .  The first encounter with the film was in my first semester of university, when I watched the movie at a friend's rent. Four years later, I find myself in a room with three of my lecturers, defending my arguments.      14th July 2016 Juggling two to three different things is (kinda) my forte. At least I'd like to think of it that way. Bef

Dirgahayu Indonesia! Life Stories 2 Edited by Dr. Dino Patti Djalal Currently trying to finish this book. A book of success stories, through which I have learnt that there are so many successful Indonesians studying and living abroad. Ordinary people who have started from the bottom and now they're achievements, discoveries and inovations are noticed and appreciated, not just in our nation but also worldwide. Indonesia has a lot of potential, a country with an abundant of natural reasources, rich in culture, traditions and local wisdom. My wish for Indonesia is that its brilliant and smart youths will nurture their love and sense of nationalism for their country. Pursue in high education and achieve their dreams anywhere in the world but never ever forgetting where they started. And then one day, come back and apply their knowledge and contribute in helping the development of the land where they originally came from. INDONESIA, MERDEKA! M
